The art and philosophy of home-making
1st - 30th June 2025

Join us for a creative residency to explore the 5 dimensions of home

What is the art of home-making?

The art of home-making is a delicate and continuous process we all engage in throughout our lives. Our desire to feel safe, to belong, to find comfort, and yet to remain free and authentic individuals creates a constant tension and imbalance

Going far beyond our usual perception of home, this unique 4-weeks creative philosophical residency inquires deeply into our human nature and the connections we form with our environment. It provides a transformative space where individuals can deeply explore and redefine their understanding of "home" in a rapidly changing world.

Format of the residency

This program, designed by urbanist and photographer Yoav Goldwein, delves into the philosophy of home as portrayed by the great philosophers of modern history while exploring our own narratives of home with methods from Narrative Therapy and Process Work.

This particular combination, together with embodiment practices, offers a unique opportunity to reflect on the personal and collective stories that shape our identities and let go of tensions and inner-barriers that holds us back in a world which its only constant is change.

The residency consists of 12-14 hours of group work a week in the mornings and 4-5 hours of individual work. Therefore, it can also fit those who work part-time remotely or freelancers who run on their own schedule.

During the residency, we will follow the “Five Dimensions of Home” methodology designed by Yoav after years of collecting research, stories, and thought-provoking ideas from around the world.

CONFIGURATION

Our interconnection with the built environment and the physical structures of modern homes.

AFFINITY

The relationships in our lives, our culture, community, and families, and how we balance between the expectations of society and the free individuals we are

ATTACHMENT

Romantic partners, friends, and close family members and how love can affect the feeling of home for better or worse

INCARNATION

Our body is the only home we inhabit that is ours only. How do we find the right correspondence between our skin and what is under it and learn to live authentically?

REMINISCING

Home is often shaped by our thoughts, memories, nostalgia, and trauma

Yoav is a semi-nomadic photographer, urbanist, and anthropologist, based between Berlin, Stockholm and Azores Islands. He is dedicated to exploring life's most urgent matters and creating meaningful experiences for holistic self-development. In recent years, Yoav has toured with his philosophical photography exhibition, “Home - Between a Shelter and a Cage,” gathering narratives of home from various cultures and environments worldwide.

Having immersed himself in diverse cultural landscapes and engaged with a wide range of perspectives on the concept of home, Yoav has developed a nuanced understanding of the intricate balance between stability and freedom that defines our sense of belonging. His experiences have shaped his ability to create environments where deep introspection and meaningful dialogue can flourish.

You’ll be embraced by a team that knows 'home' is more than a place—it’s a feeling.
Maysou is the shared dream of two sisters, their partners, baby Jojo, not forgetting our furry friend, Crash.
It’s a cozy kind of 'organized chaos', balanced with enough structure to keep you grounded while leaving enough space  for everyone who steps through the door to leave their mark

Welcome to Maysou
A Living Experiment in Home and Belonging

Tucked at the foothills of the Pyrenees, Maysou a Noste (“Our Home” in Bearnese) was once an 18th-century hotel, currently being lovingly restored to rekindle its role as the heart of a 200 person village.
Maysou is a space to experiment with new ways of living—rooted in care for each other, the earth, and the local community. Here, daily rituals ground us, and community becomes something we co-create, moment by moment.
Engage with the surrounding, meet local artisans, farmers, and creators, and contribute to projects that leave a lasting impact.
Imagine yourself here—exploring ideas, building connections, and finding a deeper sense of belonging. Together, let’s experiment, create, and redefine what home can mean.

Who is it for?

Artists, nomads, remote workers, thinkers and anyone who inquires about life and their deeper purpose will find meaning and value in this experience. There is no need for prior knowledge of philosophy, just bring your curiosity and an open mind to explore different perspectives on some of the big questions of contemporary times.
